Unlike imprinted polyester lanyards which use silk screen printing to transfer artwork onto the surface of a lanyard, dye sublimated lanyards have artwork heat transferred into the fabric. We say “into” because the ink design is infused with the material through the dye sublimation process.
Once a digital version of your custom artwork is created, our production team prints the design onto sheets of transfer paper. The transfer paper is laid over blank lanyards, which are then laid inside a heat press. Heat and pressure are applied using the press, which causes the ink on the transfer paper to go from a solid state to a gas state. After a few moments, the ink is fully infused into the blank lanyards, creating a permanent design with full-coverage that won’t wash away.
